25 facts about me. If you read this, consider yourself tagged.

I have a scar on the back of my head, which I got at 7 yrs old. I was running literally outside around the house and when I turned the corner, my friend, who was more my cousins’ friend, a few yrs older and about 100 lbs more than me, was running the other way and we bumped into each other. I fell and my head landed on a tree stump, and I was unconscious for a few minutes. When I woke up, I’m in my mom’s hands, scared because she was crying, not really noticing all the blood that was coming out of my head. I didn’t want to go to the hospital (but what did I know?), and got 7 staples into my head (not stitches).

My favorite book, outside of the Bible, is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit: Relationships, Roles, and Relevance by Bruce Ware. About the most theologically practical book on the Trinity I have read thus far (try doing 25 facts on the Trinity from Scripture…or about God on anything, for that matter). If you have not read it, I will buy you a copy (seriously…but you have to read it).

I listen to Christian rap…a lot. From Cross Movement to Voice to Flame to Lecrae to R-Swift to Shai Linne. There’s even Spanish Christian rap, but they’re not as reformed as these guys. Anyone still listen to KJ-52? Hahaha!

I met my dad for the first time last year in Colorado. It was pretty surreal, since now I know what I’m going to look like in 25 years.

My first crush was in kindergarten, at 5 years old. We both went to the same schools from elementary up to high school. I stopped liking her probably in the second grade, but my family likes to bring it up every so often, 15 years after the fact. Hahaha.

My mom tried to set me up with a girl from my home church, but we only talked the time we were introduced. My cousin was rooting for my mom since she was the one to keep insisting on him on dating the pastor’s daughter, who are now planning on getting married in a couple of months! As for the girl, I believe she’s happily married. I stopped my mom’s perfect batting average (sorry ). She’s currently on the hunt for another potential spouse for me (I love her).

I really believe God used Pastor John and Chris Mueller to change my heart to really want to be involved in youth ministry. Both spoke about entrusting the goodness and glory of God into the next generation, and the urgency and importance of that high calling. I was unsure of how strategic a time it is to be involved with guys at that age, completely forgetting how much I needed guidance and older men to come alongside me and point me to the way of truth at that age. I have yet to thank Chris Mueller for making me decisive (tiny plea to go to College Retreat haha).

Whenever there’s meal in front of me, I have to eat one thing at a time. I typically can’t eat two items together. So, if I have a burger, fries, and Coke, I usually eat the fries, then the burger, then drink the Coke. If there’s steak, vegetables, and a drink, it’s steak, then drink, then…it just happens to be time to leave.

I used to collect a lot of baseball memorabilia when I was younger. It seems to be a dying pastime, but back in the day, I used to have autographed baseballs of Nolan Ryan, Willie Mays, Ken Griffey Jr., Juan Gonzalez (who used to be my favorite player), along with an autographed index card of John Travolta (don’t ask).

I want to one day grow out my facial hair without shaving for an entire year. However, I don’t believe I’m allowed to grow it that long without getting in trouble at work. I almost always get hit by a car at least once a week on my way to work. One time it was within a minute of each other, and they were both really close calls.

In kindergarten, all my friends spoke Spanish, and I only knew English. I still don’t understand how we became friends, especially since I don’t believe in the gift of tongues.

I don’t know how to swim, surf, ride a bike, skateboard, skate, ice skate, or play any musical instrument of any kind. This is sort of a plea for help haha.

I was approached by a customer at work who thinks I should do voices for cartoons. It was based on my voice, not on how I looked, in case you were wondering.

I typically get along with old ladies wherever I’m at. I’ve gotten the squeezed cheek (within the past year), a hug, and $10. Older Mexican ladies call me ‘bebito,’ which means their little baby.

I really like to sing loud when no one’s home. Our place is a good size, and there’s 6 other guys in my place, so when no one’s there, it’s rare, so I’ll try to hear how bad I sing, and I try to do it in different pitches to see which one sounds worse.

I’m not a big fan of vegetables, which isn’t something you guys didn’t already know, but my goal for this year is to love salad and to have some at least every other day. I was scared straight into eating the greens upon being confronted with what will happen should I keep avoiding it (you know who you are).

I used to know every line to the movie Independence Day. That movie is 2.5 hours long. I think I can get by with at least half of the lines now.

One of my favorite topics to talk about with anyone is books: what they’ve read recently, who their favorite author and/or book is, what they’ve learned, and if they can let me borrow it. That is about the best ice-breaker for me anyways.

I typically listen to either music or sermons throughout the day, and even at work (it’s allowed as long as I work), so that’s the only way I can get caught up on a series of sermons from MacArthur or Piper, or listen to what Al Mohler has to say on his radio program. One joy of late has been listening to Alex Montoya speak on anything. He has some of the best one-liners in his stories that I’ve ever heard from a preacher, and yet, he’s dead serious about God’s Word. The most recent series of sermons I’ve been able to listen to was the Desiring God Pastor’s Conference on Evangelism, as well as CollegeLife’s series on evangelism (listen to both!).

I still subconsciously can’t step on cracks on the sidewalk.

I was on Academic League in high school. Not really a high achievement, but that was about the only thing I ever committed to in high school. I loved knowing who wrote what novel, who directed or starred in a certain movie, and other trivial stuff that didn’t matter after that.

My mom is probably one of my closest friends I know, but I’m not a momma’s boy. She’s been such a great mom ever since I was born, and has really given me an example of motherly love and care, who has been patient with me when I’ve been dumb, and has without fail, loved me to death. She supports me 100% in anything I do, and is always there to help out whenever I need it (#6 hasn’t been a need for me though haha).

Indelible Grace

I’ve really wanted to find hymns not too well known to be redone or modernized for people to listen to rich and deeply biblical songs that are focused on Christ and His work and how that applies to us. Awhile back I stumbled upon Indelible Grace Music (not Sovereign Grace Music, but give them a listen), and was floored by how good the lyrics and music were. I just recently received two of their five albums, and am really enjoying it. I strongly commend them to you (which you can listen to below). Thinking Biblically About Facebook

I thought this article about how a Christian should view Facebook was extremely helpful. It laid out very well ideas and principles where Scripture does apply in this social network. I've always had certain things in my mind as to how people should use Facebook, and how not to use it (they definitely should not use language or complain at all when they update their status), and always have a Christlike attitude in how they comment on others' pages (it stays on their sites, and if it's a comment that would probably need to be taken down, it shouldn't be written at all). I think it's great to chat with friends from far away as a means of prayer and slight accountability, and would hope people aren't using Facebook blindly with no purpose. Otherwise, why use it?

I hope you check out the homework portion as well. Hope this encourages you to think twice about what your next action is on this site and will use it to further the Gospel (to remind us of today's sermon).
